Emma James was the last victim of the child molester Paul “Piggy” Peterson. Not long after the incident, Peterson ended his own life while Emma’s mother, Rhoda James, started a victim support group called Angel’s Shield for not only her daughter, but others who had similar experiences.
Emma’s a teenager now. Though she has moved on and become a stronger person, her mother has long since lost herself in Angel’s Shield, which has become more about Rhoda’s ego than reaching out to help victims. As well, Emma still feels the lingering pain of what was done to her. And when she meets Justice, many of those old wounds are ripped open.
But Justice is not the person Emma expected and the two soon form a friendship. But Rhoda James would not approve of this friendship. Why?

love the book, story line and writing style. the story was captivating and heartfelt! i felt like i knew the characters as they seemed so raw and real. i would love to read more from brit ward!
